Results of the Eighth International Conference "Philosophy and Culture in Information Society"

The conference was held from 20 to 22 November 2020. For the first time the work took place in correspondence mode.

The international conference was organized by the Department of History and Philosophy of the Faculty of Humanities in cooperation with the Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus, the St. Petersburg State Technological Institute (Technical University) and the editorial board of the journal "Philosophy and Humanities in Information Society".

The proceedings of the conference have more than four hundred pages and shows the trends in the development of cooperation between scientists, outlined at our previous forums. Among 155 people who have sent their materials for publication, there are teachers and professors who have started working with us since the first conference in 2013. The number of participants is constantly growing, among them students and graduate students of universities in Russia, Poland, Belarus, Armenia. Students of the Faculty of Humanities of the SUAI are also becoming more active. In student works, the problems of information society are considered in an original way and at a sufficiently high academic level, for example, the development of education in the context of a wide transition to distance learning.

International participation in the conference continues to expand. This year, 12 colleagues from the Republic of Belarus have published their articles in the conference proceedings. Their works contain, in particular, an assessment of the complex socio-political situation that has developed in Belarus in 2020.

Analysis of the conference results allows us to draw a number of important conclusions. First, the understanding of the philosophical and humanitarian problems of information society attracts more and more attention of university teachers, students and cultural professionals every year. New productive approaches are being formed. Second, the disunity between scientists from different countries of the former USSR and the gap between the generations of researchers, which was clearly outlined in Russia in the 1990s, is being overcome. Third, the teachers and professors of the St. Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation manage to play a noticeable positive role in organizing and conducting research on the problems of information society.

Greeting Speech by Rector of SUAI at Opening of International Conference “Philosophy and Culture of Information Society”

Greeting Speech by Rector of SUAI at Opening of International Conference “Philosophy and Culture of Information Society”

"Good morning, dear friends and colleagues!

Accept my congratulations on starting the 8th International Conference “Philosophy and Culture of Information Society”, a loved and expected event at SUAI.

When the concept of this conference was born, we knew that its topics will bring us to the future. This year this journey is beyond our expectations. Computer technologies made this online-conference possible in a very harsh period. It is technologies that helped us enlarge the number of cities and countries participating in the conference. We are happy to see this number grow. It reflects the relevance of topic we discuss. So, the conference shall happen online. This is another step made by our information society. Which changes will it bring? Technologies are not the only center of the conference, so philosophers and culturologists can feel and describe how this online-format transforms psychological and emotional experience. Still, I believe that the participants will enjoy the conference anyway as it usually happens.

A manuscript with your reports will include 8 sections this year. The participants will discuss Russian and foreign Philosophy, Psycology, Pedagogy, Political studies, Space and Logics. Also there is a cross-disciplinary section to remind us that the human knowledge is integral and its many elements often interact.

Finally, I wish success to all the participants. Let our knowledge grow wider to make us more experienced and ready to work under any world conditions and in any format. Thank you!"
