The year 2020 brought much success to SUAI in what concerns WorldSkills and FutureSkills initiatives: we saw launch of new competences, national and international competition victories and growth of respect within the WorldSkills community.
An important last year’s achievement was a successful accreditation of SUAI as a head center of Space System Engineering competences in the Northwest of Russia.
Starting from December 30, 2020 the University will now hold a Young Professionals (WorldSkills Russia) certificate. This accreditation certifies that SUAI uses high-standard equipment and technologies to train experts and estimate knowledge.

December 15-17, 2020 joint efforts by SUAI and the Northwest Center of Strategic Development elaborated the program on introduction of project making and training factories principles in education. SUAI’s Rector Yulia Antokhina introduced these principles for the University in order to enhance professional competences.
Training factories are a key instrument in education development within modern concepts of didactics and methodology of education. They increase possibilities to solve lack of experts in advanced industrial technologies.
Russian and international speakers were invited to speak on experience in creating training factories together with partners from industry willing to upgrade the processes required.
The universal program for universities and colleges is elaborated by order of the St. Petersburg administration, with 60 participants to successfully complete it during the 3 days.
December 14, 2020 the Second Forum by Association of Russian and Belorussian Universities took place online seeing speeches by the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov and the Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus Igor Karpenko. SUAI’s Vice-Rector of International Affairs Konstantin Losev participated in the Forum to meet university leaders and internationalists from both countries.
In the Forum the participants talked on higher education potential of the countries, digitalization of studies and academic exchange during the pandemic.
After the plenary session the Forum was divided into sections for deeper discussions of bilateral cooperation in culture, education, youth policies, science and technologies, based on the long-term historical heritage shared by Russia and Belarus.
December 11, 2020 SUAI’s Vice-Rector for International Activities Konstantin Losev participated in the 2020 Silk Road International Symposium on the Cooperation and Integration of Industry, Education, Research and Application of Aeronautics and Astronautics, held by BRAIA.
Uniting Aerospace universities and industries from all over the world, BRAIA promotes such cooperation for scientific and commercial benefit by means of ensuring continuous and industry-based higher education.
In the session, the participants discussed joint research issues, but also heard a series of reports on advanced aerospace technologies.
