Faculty 04 - Faculty of computer systems and programming

Dean

Faculty dean
Alexander P. Shepeta
Doctor of technical Science, Professor

Many of our graduates have achieved tremendous results: among them G.A. Korzhavin, first deputy director of CNII "Granit", V.V. Izranzev, scientific pro-rector of International Banking Institute, head of the chair of information management, V.N. Ivanov, general director of stock company "NII Electromera" and many others.

The problem of Russian universities today - declining years of the lecturers. An average age of lecturers at our faculty - 48 years, and at the chair of Computer mathematics and programming it is only 33 years.

Scientific research at the Faculty is centralized in the following specialized laboratories: laboratory of parallel computing systems, laboratory AskLab and some others. Very perspective research is conducted in the field of creation of virtual interactive information systems, electronic school-books.

We are sure that the level of training which the faculty and provide, the prestige of its specialties, qualification level of its lecturers and employees are the guarantee of our constant development.

History

The Faculty of Electronic devices and computer techniques was organized in 1963 on the basis of several chairs of Radio-Engineering Faculty. Chair of Radio Control was reconstructed into the chair of Electronic instruments in control systems and started to prepare students in a new specialty (with the same name as the name of the faculty). Chair of technical cybernetics became a profile one in new specialty "Electronic computing machines".

The first dean was P. A. Persianov, LIAI post-graduate of 1945, candidate of technical science.

1964 - Maly (Small) Faculty is created to train school undergraduates.

1973 - The chair of technical cybernetics is divided into chair of electronic computing machines and chair of automated control systems.

1976 - The chair of applied mathematics is created.

1980 - The faculty was renamed. Now it is the Faculty of Computing and Radio-electronic Systems.

1983 - The chair of "Electronic computing machines" became the base of new chairs - chair of board computing machines and chair of computers (at present the chair of the computers and complexes).

1984 - on the base of chair of computing systems a faculty of upgrading skills of engineers and lecturers of instrumentation institutes was created.

1998 - The chair of computers mathematics and software was created.

2003 - The faculty was renamed into "Faculty of computer systems and programming".
