On January 25, 1941 the Leningrad Aviation Institute (LAI) was founded on the former premises of the Leningrad Road Institute (Gastello Street, 15) by the Decree of the Soviet Government. 1200 students were enrolled in three faculties of Aircraft Construction, Instrumentation and Motor Building. During the Great Patriotic War the Institute operated an aircraft and tank repair shop. While some of the students and the faculty standing for the city, the LAI was evacuated.

Events

Teleconference between Russian and French Aviation & Aerospace Education

May 27th, 2021 leading aviation and aerospace universities from Russia and France will meet to discuss cooperation in science and education. SUAI will talk to its old partners from Toulouse: ISAE-SUPAERO and IPSA.

The event will be held by the Russian house of science and culture in Paris to commemorate 60th anniversary of Yuri Gagarins flight to space and 55th anniversary of French and Russian cooperation in space technologies.

Eighth International Conference Philosophy and Culture of Information Society at SUAI

Eighth International Conference Philosophy and Culture of Information Society at SUAI

Faculty of Humanities, Department of History and Philosophy will traditionally hold the annual conference Philosophy and Culture of Information Society.

The Eighth session of the conference will take place on November 20-22, presided by the Rector of SUAI Yulia Antokhina.

This year the conference will be held online for the first time. However, it attracts more and more participants every year. 155 authors from Belarus, Ukraine, Poland, Armenia, Azerbaijan and dozens of Russian universities and other institutions have sent their abstracts.

The growing geographical spread of the conference reflects the increase in understanding information society problems, with many methods and solutions being provided. SUAI has become an international platform for discussing challenges of modern world.

The conference proceeding will be published in the near future.

Closing Day of Modern Ontology X: Ontology and Art Conference at SUAI

July 2, 2021 SUAI held the 5th day of the Modern Ontology X: Ontology and Art Conference finidhing with discussions on Philosophy, Culture, Art and Existence. Many participants joined the conference online to draw conclusions of the event.

On the last day of the Conference the participants heard presentations of SUAIs scientific journals: EINAI and Philosophy and Humanities in Information Society.

During the week over 80 researchers took part in the Conference sharing reports and ideas with the colleagues. The Conference materials will be published in SUAIs scientific journals.

SUAI at Conference on Pre-University Training for International Students

June 29, 2021 RUDN Unversity held the IV science & practice conference called Pre-University Training for International Students in Modern Educational Environment. SUAI was represented by the Head of Preliminary Education Sub-Department of DIA Elena Belich.

The participants discussed pre-university training for various degrees of education, adaptation of international students and organizing extracurricular activities within distant learning.

Within the conference the participants continued discussions at the round-table talking on more profound issues, such as interaction efficiency between students coming from different countries.

Modern Ontology X: Ontology and Art Conference at SUAI

June 28, 2021 research and practice conference Modern Ontology X: Ontology and Art, organized by SUAI and academic journals editors, started at SUAI. The Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Professor Konstantin Losev opened the conference wishing success and new experience to the participants.

Over 80 researchers from Russia, Belarus, India and Central Asia talked on 18 large topics from Philosophy, Culture and Art. The conference will last till July 2nd with its plenary, section and stand-based reports. The conference proceeding will be uploaded on eLibrary.ru and indexed in RSCI.

SUAI at Pan-Indian Exhibition of Russian Universities

June 19 and 20, 2021 SUAI was showing its virtual stand at the Annual Pan-Indian Exhibition of Russian Universities, organized by ROSSOTRUDNICHESTVO representatives from Rus Education together with the Russian House in India.

The universities participated in the exhibition to attract Indian students informing them on educational programs, application rules and other opportunities and conditions. SUAIs DIA answered questions online working for over 3000 participants of the event.

June 21, the Russian House in New Delhi was the venue of the round table, where the Head of International Cooperation Sub-Department Yulia Makarova spoke on SUAIs advantages and application procedure to various fields of education.

SUAI at Sino-Russian URI Nanjing Innovation Forum

June 21, 2021 Nanjing hosted the Sino-Russian URI Nanjing Innovation Forum to become a platform for communication between R&D and education of the countries. The Vice-Rector for International Affairs Konstantin Losev presented SUAIs educational programs for Chinese students and talked on cooperation with PRC partners within such alliances as BRAIA, BRICS and ARTU.

The participants discussed technology transfer and the need to enlarge cooperation in innovation projects. Together the countries will have more opportunities to research and promote technologies for the benefit of Russian and Chinese science and education.

The Forum resulted in finding points of interest between the countries universities, research centers, businesses and innovation zones, arranging to develop innovations in Russia and PRC.

SUAI at Strategic Session by Glavexpertcentre

June 18th, 2021 a Strategic Session organized by Glavexpertcentre and RUDN University was organized for Russian universities leaders. The Session on recognition of international education and qualification during COVID-19 was held within the Export of Education Federal Project.

SUAIs Vice-Rector for International Affairs Konstantin Losev participated in the event to discuss recognition of international and Russian education, interaction with ROSSOTRUDNICHESTVO, strategic goals and current challenges in recognition issues.

Also, the participants saw the practical guidance on recognition by UNESCO.

SUAI Signs Agreement with Nanchang Hangkong Univerity (NCHU)

June 10, 2021 a ceremony of signing an agreement between SUAI and NCHU took place in a mixed format, combined with the conference opening on Innovation Approaches in Industry and Education Integration and its Realization.

In the ceremony SUAI was represented by the Rector Yulia Antokhina, the Vice-Rector for International Affairs Konstantin Losev and the Head of International Cooperation Sub-Department Yulia Makarova. The Chinese partners had representatives from the PRC Ministry of Education, Jiangxi Province Party Committee and NCHU.

The new agreement will strengthen former partnership from the MoU of 2020 and promote industry and education development and joint projects. Also, the agreement means new possibilities of student exchange, summer and winter school cooperation.

Opening of WECONF 2021 at SUAI

May 31, 2021 SUAI started its XXIV International Conference on Wave Electronics and Infocommunication Systems WECONF, opening with the Rectors greeting speech. Dr. Yulia Antokhina talked about growing geography and importance of the Conference with constantly enlarging number of sections and topics. Other R&D and industry eminent guests also greeted the participants wishing success and positive experience.

With over 350 participants from 10 countries, the international Conference will hold 8 sections on Acoustooptics, Acoustoelectronics, Methods and devices of information processing, Data processing and transmission in information and telecommunication systems, Microelectronic Embedded Systems, Electromechanics and Control systems.

Export of Education and Graduate Employment Considering Regional Specifics: Problems and Perspectives Conference Closes in Novosibirsk

May 20-23, 2021 SUAI and other leading Russian universities participated in a Conference on Export of Education and Graduate Employment Considering Regional Specifics: Problems and Perspectives. Among over 30 speakers, SUAIs Vice-Rector for International Affairs gave a report on developing international activity.

Within plenary session, parallel sections and round tables the participants discussed international recruiting, training and employment of foreign students in Russia.

May 20-21, Novosibirsk State University holds a Conference: Export of Education and Graduate Employment Considering Regional Specifics: Problems and Perspectives including round-tables, sections, a plenary session and parallel science and education conferences. On the first day of the Conference SUAIs Vice-Rector for International Affairs Konstantin Losev read a report on promoting Russian education in Latin America analyzing SUAIs experience in Chile.

In the Conference the participants talked on training experts and offering them better employment conditions, practices and tools of international students adaptation and quality of career events.

SUAI Exchanges Experience with Russian Universities on Fighting Pandemic

May 18, 2021 the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (RF) gathered Russian leading universities to bring up discussions on welcoming international students in 2021.

SUAIs Vice-Rector for International Affairs Konstantin Losev and his colleagues from DIA participated in the webinar to share experience and receive instructions from the Ministry on how to enroll foreign students, work with documents and control vaccination process.

The organizers stressed the importance of unified mechanisms and solutions for all major Russian higher education entities to efficiently consult students and candidates from other countries.

For decades, SUAI graduates leading designers, chief engineers, heads of large industrial enterprises have been shaping the aircraft, the space and the instrumentation engineering.
