Free use of data transmitting networks is integral of the today’s information culture. The industry needs professionals able to maintain and develop electronic communication. Professionals in the fields of secure information technologies, network administration, development and implementation of cryptographic protocols and algorithms are highly in demand. The department has a number of laboratories equipped with the necessary hardware, software and up-to-date research equipment.
The department offers both Bachelor and Master degrees. The postgraduate program is aimed at training both research and teaching staff. The department has prepared 9 PhDs in Engineering.
Workshops
The Department collaborates with the Finnish-Russian University Cooperation in Telecommunications Association (FRUCT, www.fruct.org). Students can present their projects at the international FRUCT workshops held in Russia and Finland.
